Grass-fed Lamb

grass-fed-lamb-pennsylvania.jpg

Our pastures are naturally organic with legumes of many kinds. Our purebred White Dorper lambs are a hair sheep. They’re free to roam and graze these pastures, finding food the natural way. Our lambs are rotated regularly to fresh grass to keep our lambs healthy and our meadows clean.

Our lamb is grass-fed and grass-finished for a more nutritious, milder New Zealand-style flavor, and less fatty meat. Our lambs are finished at approximately 7-9 months of age. These lambs are never given antibiotics, growth hormones or grain. A whole lamb is sold at about 80-90 pounds and gives approximately 30-40 pounds of meat.

According to studies, Lambs have been sometimes shown to rank among the top for Omega-3s than any other food in the diet. Grass-fed lamb has been shown to average at least 25% more omega-3s than conventionally fed lamb and more ALA (the building block for omega-3s)

Lamb in general is very tender meat. Things to look for to ensure higher quality are Firmness, fine textured, pink in color with a white fat. Our lambs are all of these and 100% grass fed.
